Terrible twos

After a long and exhausting week of fruitless house hunting in DC, Steve and I returned home on Mother's Day.  I received a beautiful handmade necklace from the girls!  Thanks Mom and Dad for watching them for us, there is no way we could have seen as many houses as we did.

Jake celebrated his second birthday on Tuesday.  We started with a trip to Chinatown, played in the pool and then enjoyed some Bob's pizza and a Backyardigan's cake.  All in all, it was a nice day...EXCEPT Jake woke up ornery and hasn't really been the same since.  Is it really terrible twos?

He was to the Dr today and measured in at 35.6 inches and 31.4 pounds.  As we were sitting waiting for some meds, Jake saw a guy in uniform and very happily, and loudly, announced to all around "DAD!"  When the guy (who looked nothing like Steve) passed him by he was devastated and chased after him chanting Dad, Dad, Dad...the guy even announced to all around "I've never even seen him before."  Jake's poor little heart was broken that "dad" wasn't paying any attention to him.  Most of the people there had the knowing looks on their faces thinking, "oh poor kid, Dad must be deployed and he forgets what he looks like"  Little do they know that Steve isn't a Marine AND Jake saw him the night before and almost every day since he was born.  He had my Mom and I crying, we were laughing so hard.
With the weather getting warmer, we have been in the pool quite a bit.  Alaina has become quite a proficient diver and is trying to perfect her dive.  Bella is a little concerned about throwing herself headfirst into the water.  We are working on it and I am sure that she will get it soon.
