Herndon Warriors vs Ft Hunt

Well, we are officially immersed in lacrosse!  Yesterday, the girls had their first scrimmage of the season against a tough team.  They held their own (2-5) and could have won if their shots were a little more accurate.  Offensively we did great, but we have some work to do defensively.  Alaina was pretty nervous about her first game but after matching her up with behemoth child (no offense, really) I don't think she will fear another defender, EVER.  I mean come on, check out the size differential.  That's Alaina, #46.
All that said, she outran her several times AND got most ground balls.   She is a great attacker!  I had a proud momma moment when Bella ran the ball upfield looked for Alaina, passed, Alaina missed BUT recovered the ground ball and they continued the play for a shot on goal.  It's nice to see them working together towards a common goal.  Bella had several powerful, but unfortunately, inaccurate shots in the first half.  She then played goalie the second half.  In one play she made a save, ran it to the midline, passed it to a middie, who passed it to an attack for a goal.  Pretty nice (even though I was nervous to see our goal that wide open).  She played well, but is very bummed that she didn't score any goals.

I think the team did great, especially since they were missing about 8 of them for a birthday party AND they are now playing on the full, regulation sized field.  Steve, well, he has a whole lot of drills planned...and a re-match request for the end of the season.  So you might ask, where was Jake in all of this?
Of course, he was playing under the bleachers!  POTUS did a flyby , too.
