The girls got bunk beds today and they are a hit! They helped put them together and it looks pretty nice. We hit the pool this weekend vice going down to the beach. Jake was pretty fussy much of the weekend and we just didn't want to deal with that at the beach. However, he has upgraded from the sling in his bath to just sitting in the bath water. Well, let me tell you that those were his happiest moments this weekend! He kicked and splashed until the water was freezing and then bawled when I took him out. His poor fingers and toes looked like raisins but he had a great time playing. Bella got a call from her new Kindergarten teacher and we got her class list. It looks like one of her good friends will be in class with her, so we are excited that she will have some of her friends from JK. The class size at this point is 18 students and I hope it stays that way, especially for Bella and the rest of her JK classmates. Otherwise, I think they would be left out as the teacher concentrates her attention on the "new" students. We'll see how it goes. Alaina enjoyed her day on Friday although she wasn't too keen on being dropped off at school. She made some very cute art work and it seems like she is making some friends; which was the whole point of her going to school. Steve is in the throes of compiling a package to apply for a permanent teaching position at the Academy. It is highly competitive and typically is given to a current teacher, but we think he has an edge with his highly technical background. He would remain on active duty but would be a teacher for the rest of his service time...9-19 years, whichever he decides. Though I am not thrilled about the idea of living in CT, being stable and in a house for longer than 2 years has a definite appeal. We should know by Christmas time if this will come to fruition. As for me, well I am in a cleaning/ decluttering frenzy and I haven't found a way to preserve my efforts...for example, I just finished vaccuming and lo and behold I see a Hansel & Gretel trail of smashed Pringles THROUGHOUT the house. Ahh, mother must mean "maid" to these people...

Ah, you're not kidding, sister! All I do is clean up after kids. Oh well, I'll miss it when they're grown up, right? Good luck to Cesar on his try for teaching. How exciting! Can't wait to see what happens. You're right, it'd be nice to stay in one place for more than a couple years...oh wait, we did!
